This is a power steeing pump pressure reduction valve (flow control valve) for use with Saginaw power steering pumps. Danchuk # 16530 will work on any 1955-1957 classic Chevy with a power steering conversion utilizing a Saginaw power steering pump as well as other vehicles you may have in your collection. The accumulator is the gold cylinder usually seen on the right side of the unit, and it's filled with 1,500 psi of nitrogen and when your pump is running it fills the chamber with power steering fluid and compresses a piston.

  • Jan 10, 2013 · I'm running a Ford pump on a 390FE on a 79 steering box and it is a bit underdriven. Meaning, the revs need to come up a touch for full pressure/power steering. It has been working okay since it's a four-speed 4x4. I'm planning on getting aftermarket "Saginaw to FE" brackets in the near future to get rid of the laziness in the steering system.

One last note: The power steering hoses that are used on C2/C3 (1963-1982) Corvettes are designed for 1100 psi maximum pressure. This is also the maximum pressure setting in a Corvette power steering pump.On "C", "E", "G", "H" and "K" bodies, with valve open and engine idling, pressure should be 80-125 psi (6-9 kg/cm ). On all other models, pressure should be less than 150 psi (10.5 kg/cm ). If pressure exceeds 200 psi (14 kg/cm ), stop engine and check for restriction in hose(s).
Takes the guesswork out of power steering analysis quickly and accurately by detecting defective power steering pumps and gears, plus kinked or clogged lines; Includes most adapters to test domestic cars and light trucks, and some imports; The 2-1/4" gauge has a dual scale dial with ranges from 0-2000 psi and 0-140 bar. With the location of my power steering pump on my 350 conversion, I was able to simply remove the pressure hose from the back of the pmup with the 5/8" flare wrench and then use the 1" socket to remove the large retaining nut/assembly. Depending on your installation, you may need to physically remove the pump. Be sure to catch any fluid that ...

You can get a flow control union from a 1996 power steering pump then use a 1996 power steering high pressure hose. Cost of a union should be $40 and the hose is $30. Those two parts are exactly what this thing does but eliminates the extra tubing and potential for an added joint to leak.

The pump contains a pressure-relief valve to make sure that the pressure does not get too high, especially at high engine speeds when so much fluid is being pumped. Rotary Valve A power-steering system should assist the driver only when he is exerting force on the steering wheel (such as when starting a turn).
